The Sky is Falling!!

Man it has either rained or been a little chilly here lately. We had such a wonderful April but May has sucked! I want to play tennis, I want to enjoy riding my bike. I'm tired of having to drag myself out of bed with it being dark and rainy outside. Ugh. . .

At least it's Thursday. Life is always a little better one day closer to Friday.

Brake Gems

Oh the joys of owning a car.

As I was joyfully walking out of work today I noticed in the bright sunlight that my back drive side break is cracked and rusty. Ahhhh, owning a car is much fun. Sooooo I have to ask my Uncle what the best route is. I will have him take a look at it but it will probably mean getting my rear brakes done.

Ahh, isn't being a grown-up wonderful? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to be a kid again, trust me. I do not mind being older (she won't say her age hahaha).

Then I had the pit feeling like I don't really know who or what I want to be. I suppose since school has finished it has been hard to think about. So, as to up my anti on writing I am going to start blogging more. I have been horrible in the past about this sort of thing.

Ahhh dinner tonight, the potatoes are simmering away on the stove. I came home and quickly made tuna noodle salad

My recipe

Boil either bow-tie or any choice of noodles. I use whole wheat because any chance you get, it is best to use whole wheat.
In a separate bowl, open a can of tuna, I use tuna in water less oil the better.
I use paprika, garlic (love garlic), minced onions, sea salt, pepper, pepper flakes, thyme, and onion powder for seasoning. You do not have to use that much seasoning, but they all blend well together. The pepper flakes are nice because I like a little heat with my food.

Then add light miracle whip about a cup to the tuna and seasoning. You have the option here to add a citrus. I usually do lemon or lime. Citrus is always good with fish.

Drain noodles and flash them with cold water and drain again.
Slowly add noodles to tuna. I use a spatula and fold the noodles in. If you do it too quickly, it will tear the noodles up and it wont evenly coat the noodles.
Place in fridge for a few hours to cool.
YUMMY!!!

Mashed potatoes
I use red potatoes for most boil mashed and sliced potatoes. I like how they taste.

Boil them in water for about 30 minutes or until tender.
You can use either a blender or a fork, depending on how smooth you like your potatoes.
I add smart balance butter-like spread. Since I cannot have butter. I then add cheese, garlic and pepper. I don't add salt to them because cheese is already salty enough. The best option is to not over-salt anything. Too much sodium is bad for your diet.

I have a sensitive stomach, and I have to watch what I put into it. I am also allergic to several foods (milk, butter).

My wonderful fiance, Tom, puts up with a lot of low sodium, reduced fat, low calorie, no high-fructose corn syrup but he will be a happier person in the end for it. I try to always incorporate a desert though. (which is normally healthier than processed cookies and fatty things)

Potatoes are done, I am off

The End of the Grand!

Last Thursday was the end of undergraduate life for me. It was hard and emotional, but it is over with.

Actually it was not hard, because I really wanted it to be over with. Haha. Contradicting myself there. I have stepped into the world filled with no-jobs and debt of student loans. Ahhhh, the life.

I shouldn't say no-jobs, because I have a job, just not for my degree. I hope to change that. However, I have had an enlightening promotion at the college and I am job-shadowing at the local library. I want to be a librarian however, I want to also use my undergraduate degree. I want to be a writer for a little while. That is why I got an English degree. . . (ironic)

My stab at journalism was very much exciting, and I want to pursue it! And I will! I am tenacious enough that I WILL!!!!!

Anyways, this past weekend Tom (my wonderful fiance) bought a black Wii!!! and we waisted away a beautiful day on the couch playing games. Something we have yet to do since buying our new house. It felt good actually. Tom played Monster Hunter Tri and I watched and helped. I love doing this actually (many think it's boring).

I suppose I will sign off and finish some work.

Summer 2010 Fashion

As I have been looking at my wardrobe, I have noticed that it needs sophisticating up (if that is a term). As a college graduate, I need to look more polished to venture out into the job field. I already have several of these pieces but I just wanted to show them. All are from the gap.com site. I am in love with gap right now. I used to love American Eagle. However, since I am soon to be 25!!! I feel that I need a little more grown-up look.

I already have a white button-down.

This is a nice soft gray that would look good with a lot of different pieces.

I'm sorry, but a woman can never have enough bags.

Skinny cropped pants are essential. These in Navy and below in khaki are wonderful!

Casual Fridays call for skinny cropped denim!!

To update the leather belt this braided one is nice!

The typical white shirt with flare!

Linen pants are a must in the summer. Cotton can be too heavy sometimes.

I already have a linen blazer. These help to dress up denim!

I LOVE flats!!!!!! I cannot for the life of me walk in heels. Just not happening. SOO to dress something up I wear flats!!! I need a new pair of gold ones. Soo cute with the little bow.

Dress up that t-shirt with some floral decoration on the side!

Empire-waist is HUGE right now. This Dress would be great for the office with either the linen blazer or a cardigan thrown over-top. Tip!! NEVER go without something over-top a tank-top. It is not professional, it sends the wrong image in a work environment.

(Like flats) I LOVE cardigans. My fiance will tell you, I have a TON!!! But THIS one is sooo cute and perfect for summer. It would dress up denim, or help keep linen pants tank-top work-place casual.

Super cute boyfriend news shirt. Love the rolled up sleeves.

Hair Care

Okay, I love hair, I love to style my hair differently. I am a girl, and it is fun to play it up.

I wanted to share some of my favorite products with you.

First, the essential hair spray. I do not like helmet hair, you know the kind you get and spray on your hair and you could shoot a bullet point blank at your head and it would bounce off. Yeah. . . come on girls we all know that feeling.

Well this stuff is wonderful. It gives volume plus a nice flexible hold. Great stuff.

The next is a great styling product. I have fringe aka bangs, and they usually need a little something. Rewind is amazing a little goes a LONG way.

My most favorite product is aerate. It is amazing! I keep saying that but it really is. Put it in your hair while it is still wet and when you blow dry it is sooo soft. A nice weightless volume boost.

Redken is a great product for everyday use. Body Full is a great cleanser but pair it with a nice thick conditioner like Blonde Glam or All Soft.

I am blonde and I love this stuff. You don't have to be blonde to use this. It smells really good too.

Brittle hair? Try All Soft. I use this as well because it is wonderful at bringing back dead hair.

Swimming in Warmth!

Oh-----kkkk

So I have been on an indie music kick lately. (Those who know me, know this is really nothing new) but for the sake of those who don't know me, I will explain my new loves.

The Weepies

I love them! Hideaway is awesome. So melodic and just relaxing. They are good when you are working on stuff at work (like what I am doing right now.)

So, after that, I would say I am really excited to listen to the new She & Him volume 2 cd due out SOON!!!! I love Zooey Deschanel, I would say she is my style icon right now. Plus the movie 500 days of Summer is AWESOME!!!! Tom and I both love it. So great

House

Okay, so the first two items are not for the house, they are just for shopping :)

However, I have been looking for cute things to add to our new house. Though, we don't live there yet, I still want to nab some super cute items.

This is a plant hook to hold a hanging basket. I want to get into plants more, even though I do not have a great record of keeping them alive. I want to get better at it.

I saw this alarm clock and thought it was super cute!

The first is the bedding that I want to get for our room. I think it is really pretty and fresh. The second is a mushroom box that would be cool in the living room or something.

Last but not least, is this cute key holder. I really think this is a must grab.

Wonton

So, I have been knitting a lot lately. I love it because in Michigan in the winter it sucks. There is very little to do. I came across this pattern for cat toys online. The first is a wonton. You knit and stick cat-nip inside it and well. . . Hamlet LOVES IT!!

He was all about playing with his new toy this morning. :)

I wanted to give credit to the creator, Julie Falatko from knitty.com. Awesome! Super easy to make. I learned the new stich for it as well. I have one very happy kitty.
